It's so easy to think you are doing the right thing by lots of marketing, networking and other 'stuff' to grow your business. But are you doing the right stuff? Or are you wasting your time?
If you are putting lots of effort in, but getting little reward out, it could simply be that you are not talking to the right people, in the right way. One of the elements of building a strong personal brand is recognising that not everyone is going to buy your stuff. You are not going to be everyone's cup of tea. So get over that first.
Stop trying to sell to everyone and think about who you want to sell to. Think about creating a tribe of Super Clients who are so engaged with what you do for them and their business that they can't wait to be part of it - they love everything you offer and want more of it. They are your Super Clients. But how do you go about doing that?
You start by thinking about what it is you are offering? How does it help people? What are the benefits to them? The key thing here is to do this from your prospective clients viewpoint and not as the provider. It's one of the first steps I cover in my Five Steps to find YOUR Super Client course.
Sit down and have a think about how a potential client might view what you are trying to sell to them:
- Are the benefits clear enough & do you talk about them?
- Do you make it easy to understand what you are offering or are you bamboozling them with jargon and detail?
- Do you have a tiered package offering that allows them to work out how you can help them?
- Is your pricing sensible and suitable for your brand?
Start there. If you don't have a clear idea of what you are offering - how can you expect your Super client to know?!!
