What to Post on LinkedIn When You’re Tired of Generic Content

What to Post on LinkedIn When You’re Tired of Generic Content

Sheena Whyatt·13 October 2025

If you’ve ever sat staring at the LinkedIn post box thinking “I should post something, but I have no idea what”… you’re not alone.

Posting on LinkedIn can feel like shouting into a void, or worse — like you’re copying what everyone else is doing just to keep up.

So how do you create content that feels like you and actually attracts the right people?

Start with Themes, Not Topics

Instead of asking, “What should I post about today?” — ask: “What do I want to be known for?”

Pick 3–5 content themes that feel true to you and relevant to your work. Some good examples:

  • Behind the scenes: how you work, what you’re learning, how you support clients.
  • Values & beliefs: what matters to you and how that shows up in your business.
  • Client stories or results (with permission).
  • Practical tips or short insights related to your service area.
  • Personal moments that reflect your journey.

Let Go of “Professional” Perfection

LinkedIn has evolved. It’s not just a CV platform. It’s a place for human connection.

So no — your posts don’t need to be polished, jargon-filled, or corporate.

In fact, the more you you are, the better they land.

Try:

  • A photo of your workspace and how you start your day.
  • Sharing a moment when something didn’t go perfectly — and what you learned.
  • Talking about what you wish more people understood about your work.

Build a Posting Rhythm You Can Stick To

You don’t need to post daily.

Start with 1–2 posts per week. Pick a day and stick to it.

Batch your ideas in advance — use a notes app or voice recorder to capture ideas when they come. Then, on your content day, just write them up.

Visibility Without Burnout

If you’re feeling stuck, try these:

  • Commenting with intention. Your comments on others’ posts show up in your network’s feed. Make them meaningful.
  • Repost with context. Share a great post and add your take.
  • Reshare your own stuff. If a post did well three months ago, reuse it. Most people didn’t see it the first time.

And if you want structured support to build your rhythm?
