Let’s talk about PASSION……

Let’s talk about PASSION……

OK, now steady on. Not THAT kind of passion. Dial it down a bit! I’m talking about the thing, or things that you are most passionate about in your business and life.

Sorry for the let down on that.

To find the driving force for your focus, motivation, and momentum, you need to take the time out to reflect and list what is important to you in your business and why you do what you do.

When times are tough, this can bring you back to what you are truly passionate about & stop you falling down the rabbit hole of doom, despair & desperation.

What are your passions in your business?. Take a few moments to gather your thoughts and jot them down. That bit’s important, you need to visualise them, absorb them, acknowledge them to make them REAL.

OK, so now you have to think about what you're passionate about, let's get down to the nitty gritty. What do you procrastinate over the most in business?. Take a few moments to gather your thoughts and jot them down. That bit’s important, you need to visualise them, absorb them, acknowledge them to make them REAL – even if this makes you feel a bit uncomfortable.

The most common answer I get to this question about procrastination when I'm coaching is numbers. Anything related to a accounts or finance is normally a clear winner. This is closely followed by feeling overwhelmed by the To Do List that is the length of War and Peace, but I’ve talked about that before.

Once you identify these answers, it could be a game changer in your business. When you run your business, you are everything to everyone. And this means you end up doing tasks and activities that you really don't like. You can end up doing these until you find the time, money, and energy to outsource. And it could be the thing you procrastinate over in your business which is stopping you from progressing and making clearer decisions.

So, what do you procrastinate over? List them below. Fidget a bit. Feel awkward. Probably employ a little denial, then put your big adult pants on and focus.

Now take some time to reflect.

Ask yourself are these things I’m faffing about really stopping me from moving forward in my business?

You see, it's pretty easy for me to think about what I'm passionate about in my business. The things that make me get out of bed in the morning and look forward to a day of coaching, or equally a day that might not involve being hands on with my clients, but being hands on in other things that are important to me too.

Things like taking time out to be with my husband. Taking time out for me, to potter about in the garden, my happy space, to think about food, which is one of the ways I express how I care about people.

Equally to be able to spend time applying my creative processes and thoughts, that I consistently share with my clients to help them think about how to move their businesses forward, in my own business.

The things I'm passionate about in my business are the things that keep me going.

The things that get me out of bed.

The things that make me smile, that make me punch the air after a particularly great coaching session.

Equally, I am very well aware of the stuff I procrastinate over in my business. Yes, it did take me a while to work that out. And, yes, it did take me a while to get the confidence to outsource them.

Once you change your mindset into seeing outsourcing as investing in your business instead of adding an outgoing to your business finances, trust me you will never look back.

If I was to list the three things I procrastinate most over in my business my list would look like this:

Repetitive tasks:

  • Social media scheduling
  • Uploading content
  • Updating catalogues

So I don’t do them. I outsource them. Allowing me more time to do the things I am passionate about in my business, which is coaching, and creating new ways to support small business owners like me.

To create new tip sheets.
