Email Marketing is NOT dead!

Email Marketing is NOT dead!

Something that is so important for businesses is to stay visible – especially now in a cluttered online world where we are all thrashing about trying to stay afloat, redefining our businesses, reshaping our goals, realigning our networking & marketing to service doing business in the virtual marketplace.

So why do we forget about our mailing lists?

So much has changed since last year – but the one thing that hasn’t is the importance of building and maintaining a mailing list. During a recent coaching call with a client, they expressed a certain amount of outrage that a client of theirs didn’t know they produced a particular product. They were quite put out that this client didn’t know.

So I asked my client this question – ‘did you tell them?’

**stunned silence**

You see, it’s all well and good getting a bit miffed that one of your customers doesn’t know you offer something they are looking for, but if you don’t tell them how you can help them, they are going to forget and look somewhere else for it.

Email marketing isn’t just about sending out repetitive ‘buy my stuff’ messages – oh how I hate those – but the power of email marketing is using it to keep in touch with your existing clients, engage with your potential ones and keep you and your business on their radar.

Conversational marketing is so much nicer than ‘buy my stuff’ messages. Ideally your audience should feel like they are having a chat with you – you need to use your authentic voice so they feel like they are getting to know you, it’s about relationship building as well as sharing information.

If you approach your mailing list simply with a view of wanting to sell to it, you probably won’t get much traction from it.

But if you approach it with a view to nurturing it, adding value and interest to it, you might start to see a difference.

Adding lots and lots of subscribers to your list is what so many social media experts bang on about endlessly – but growing an engaged list that gets value from you every time you contact it can be much more sustainable.

You need to be consistent, you need to be engaging, you need to be your authentic self and you need to create a tribe that understand how you can help them.

One of the ways you can get people to join your list is by producing great free content that they can access in exchange for giving you their contact details.

And to do that, you need a landing page. You need somewhere to send them where they can quickly access your fabulous content and start to implement it straight away.

If you need help with that, have a chat with Amanda Roulstone, she is a whizz at it.
